For Scott and Aaron, choosing Est the second time around was a deliberate decision.

After relocating from Sydney to Melbourne last year, Scott and Aaron explored a number of build-to-rent communities before choosing Est as their home. Having previously spent six months living in the building, the decision to return to Est felt like a natural one.

“Location was a big factor for us,” they explain. “Coming from Sydney, we really wanted to have the Melbourne experience. The inner north is such a vibrant part of the city, with great cafes, restaurants, bars and a real neighbourhood feel. Est is right in the heart of that.”

While the location first drew them in, it was the sense of community that convinced them to stay.

“We like the casual nature of the community here and the organic way events happen. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and build a network in a city we hadn’t lived in before.” The pair say the balance between social connection and personal space is one of the building’s greatest strengths.

“The amenities are fantastic because there are so many different zones and ways to use them. You might have someone watching a movie, another resident hosting a private dinner party, and someone else listening to records, but it never feels like you’re encroaching on other people’s space.”

From shared spaces to resident events, Est has helped make Melbourne feel like home.

“What really makes it feel like home is how integrated the building is into the community around it,” they say. “You’ve got the North Fitzroy community right on your doorstep, but you’re also connected to so many great neighbourhoods. Whether it’s a stroll into Fitzroy, crossing the bridge over to Northcote or jumping on a train to Clifton Hill, you feel connected and part of the community rather than bolted onto it.”

Now settled back into life at Est, they’re enjoying everything the building and the surrounding neighbourhood have to offer, embracing a Melbourne lifestyle built on connection, convenience and community.
