A Stunning New Mural Brings Fitzroy North to Life

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news! Our first rental-only building, Fitzroy & Co., is home to a breathtaking new mural by celebrated Mixed Cultural First Nations artist, Lisa Waup. This massive 376 square metre artwork is one of the largest pieces of public art in the City of Yarra.

A Story Told in Art

Titled ‘Convergence’, the mural is a stunning monochromatic piece that celebrates the connection between people, Country, and community. Lisa explains, “It was really important to understand where the building lies and the space around it, and the artwork can act as a conduit to connect the natural to the urban.” The circles in the mural represent family and community, while the lines symbolize the connecting paths that bring people together.

A Vibrant Addition to the Neighbourhood

We’re over the moon with the positive response the mural has already received. From cyclists along the Merri Creek to local artists, everyone is talking about it!

“It’s the first time I have been able to translate one of my works on paper to a mural of this scale, so it’s been amazing to get that reaction.”

Est: Building Community

At Est, we believe that art is a powerful way to bring people together. That’s why we’re so excited to have Lisa’s incredible work as a centerpiece of Fitzroy & Co. As Salta’s Chief Operating Officer, Emma Woodhouse, says, “Art plays a crucial role in defining the spirit of a place, fostering community bonds and creating a shared identity.”

We can’t wait for you to experience the magic of Fitzroy & Co. and its stunning new mural. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to welcoming our first residents in September!
