Light phenomena can evoke a sense of nostalgia and mystery— the filtering of light through a window or the colours within a sunset remind us of the vastness and reverence we have for light and its effects. Crafted from LED lighting and clear acrylic segments, the piece features undulating vertical bars of light. The rhythmic wave-like design creates an illusion of movement, as if the light itself is alive and pulsating.
Artist Biography
Meagan Streader’s work pushes the limits of light within sculpture and installation. Streader manipulates, reinterprets, and extends upon the boundaries of constructed spaces through work and site-specific interventions. Her multidimensional use of light re-orientates the viewer’s relationship to the pre-existing architecture and scale of a given space. In this way, Streader’s work reveals the pervasive role of light in governing physical and social navigations of fabricated spaces.
